2. Herre, lär mig att tro

likt ett frö och sällsamt gro,

bli till ett stort träd

där fåglar kan bygga bo.

Låt min tro nära mig,

låt hoppet bära mig,

och må din kärlek

i ömhet beskära mig.

Lyrics and music: Anders Nyberg

The original lyrics of this song was sung, no screamed, by a poor, wretched man outside of the city-walls, outside of everything.

He screamed his words and was told to shut up. So he screamed louder, and was told even harsher to shut up. So he screamed even louder and was heard and seen. And was given his sight back.

The three-fold Kyrie is probably the world's most sung lyrics today. Every Sunday in every church around the globe the words of the blind man outside of Jericho's walls are being repeated. This man should be the patron saint of all lyricists of the world. Of all those who are trying to put words, "inappropriate" words to the world, and who are being told to shut up. And shouts louder. Many of them have to wait to get their release from their predicaments. But they keep shouting inspired by this fool outside of the gates. Bartimaeus is his name.

In the original Kyrie there is not a promise of an answer, in this one there is. There is an ear out there, there is an answer. We believe. As fools do. Thanks Bartimaeus for showing us the way through your utter foolishness.
