English non-singable translation:
I played on my pipe, then a little dove appeared,
her name was Rännar-Stina, I took her in my embrace.
Then I'll walk to the forest, with gun and pistol,
to shoot young doves, but without using gunpowder.
Margareta Jonth, the wonderful singer from Nås in Dalarna included this song in her compilation "Visor från Dalarna", released in 1975. There it appeared with a totally different version of the "trall" - the second part of the song that is sung on the syllable "tra". But after the release of the book she discovered yet another, and more beautiful version, that yet had to be transcribed and scored and she performed it frequently on her concerts. Fjedur heard it while performing with her and it was arranged for four-part choir by Anders Nyberg.
Though the folkmusic-tradition of Dalarna is bountiful, most of the old songs are of course by now transcribed and scored. But this particular pearl of a "trall" actually got its first scoring with this arrangement, proving that you still can find hidden treasures - doves appearing from the forest - waiting to be scored, shared and sung.
